Parental Feedback
We believe that education is a partnership with our families and we value the input parents make to our school.
We regularly seek parents views on new initiatives and ask for feedback to further develop our practice and systems. These responses and the outcomes are shared with parents.
Pupil Voice
This is a very important and much valued process at St Peter’s:
• It encourages pupils to become active participants in a democratic society – by holding school councils which develop skills such as co-operation and communication and encourage them to take responsibility.
• It contributes to achievement and attainment – pupils involved in participative work benefit in a range of different ways. Increased confidence, self-respect, competence, engagement and an improved sense of responsibility.
At St Peter’s we elect a School Council annually to seek pupil voice in the development of our school. This consists of two members from each class. They are consulted on various aspects of the school day including the curriculum, health and safety and the school environment.
Whilst the school council represent the views of the whole class we also regularly involve our pupils in the evaluation of their learning so ensure every child feels that their voice is valued and considered.
Governors also listen to pupil voice during their visits to gain the view of what life is like at St Peter’s through the eyes of the child.
Ofsted – PARENT VIEW
Ofsted Parent View gives you the chance to tell Ofsted what you think of your child’s school, including:
– how happy your child is at school
– how the school manages bullying or challenging behaviour
If your child has special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), you can say how well you think the school supports them.
The questionnaire can be completed at any time – you don’t have to wait until the school is being inspected.
If there is something that you would like us to address or something St Peter’s School has done which you are happy with, please do let us know. You can drop us an email or send us a message via the contact form below.
Responding to concerns and/or complaints
We operate an open door policy whereby parents are actively encouraged to communicate, feedback and discuss their worries or concerns with us.
If you have any worries or concerns about your child’s education or well-being, then we believe that it is far better that you come into school and discuss them – in the first case with the class teacher, then with the Headteacher. Following this process usually allows issues to be resolved and/or explained quickly.
We take concerns seriously and seek to address them as quickly as possible. If you have not been able to resolve the issue informally then you may wish to raise a formal complaint.
The difference between a concern and a complaint
A concern may be defined as ‘an expression of worry or doubt over an issue
considered to be important for which reassurances are sought’.
A complaint may be defined as ‘an expression of dissatisfaction however
made, about actions taken or a lack of action’.
Please refer to the Policies section of our website for further information about the procedures for raising a formal complaint.
